I went on a weird journey over the last month. Firstly, I strived to write a new post every day—which ended up being a lot of interesting analyses of Medium.com itself.
But today’s email is more about a special project I was able to complete.
One that took me probably around 50 hours (maybe I have too much time on my hands these days).
I keep seeing vitriol everywhere I look these days. All of my chat groups, with great friends from all around the world, seem to be full of unfactual statements more and more.
And it was annoying the hell out of me.
Whenever I asked someone where they got their information from, they’d post obscure news sources and claim they weren’t biased.
You see, people have learned. Whether you’re far left, far right, or just want to support a point (either true or false), you can’t be caught posting something from CNN or Fox “News” these days.
No, that will result in an immediate “CNN IS FAKE NEWS” comment faster than I can fall down a stairwell drunkenly.
So, this anger, if I can call it that, led me to a strange project—I wanted to know which news media source is actually biased. Equally important, I wanted to know how often they told the truth.
So, if you’re at all interested in keeping the news fair and trying to come out of this pervasive divisiveness—please read this article!
And a small favor if you don’t mind—if you appreciate the work done in the article, could you please clap for it (if you’re a Medium member) or share it around on social media?
I put a lot of effort into this article but so far the actual views have been quite low, to my disappointment. On the positive side, I’ve had over 20 people tell me they absolutely loved the idea of it and the piece.
I just don’t think I’ll be able to spend that amount of time on something that can’t help me support myself.
Regardless of what you do, I hope everything is well with you and yours!
Until next time, have a great week!
Thank you for your research and article. I posted this information on my FB page in hopes that it'll open some eyes. Well researched and presented!
Did you include OANN in your analysis? Because I swear I see fake stuff from them all the time, and was surprised they were not listed.
