Okay. I have a trick that helps spot my darlings! It is a matter of viewing the piece as if you are an outside reader and testing it for a smooth flow. I chop away and it probably comes to about 10%!

Great article here. I've been chopping out my "darlings" since I took Stephen King's advice. It is always an improvement! I liked the audio book.
It's such a difficult thing to do haha. I'm pretty sure my own version of his rule is Final version = Draft + 10%
