Yeah, your unfocused pictures (fellow ADHD) are awesome.

Use a tripod ? If you want to get fancy, use a circular polarizer with a tracking head for long exposures . Please keep doing it . The unfocused stuff too. Can you post also contextual surroundings of your off the city spaces?

Thanks for not getting in the nitty gritty of Snell's Law. Whew...

Now, in the morning, chase the 46 degrees halo.

I've seen it once and went to optometrist ( it was in Estere, QC, where I've seen it ).

He sent me to a diffraction optics course- and sold me on fancy antireflective coating ( useless for that, btw)

My knowledge of optics is abysmal at best these days (ironic since I used to work at an IP camera company). Do you have any recommendations for taking better pics with my iphone 13? I'm not a big enough photog man to go out and spend on a real camera...at least not yet.

Get an iPhone Tripod ( Manfrotto is the best bang for the bang). They are coming from the prosumer ( even pro) world.

And a Gorilla one. For long shots , use timer, diminishes hand vibrations

To go over the camera app and have more control, I use Halide app ( my nr 1 ) and Hydra ( nr 2) as snapshooting apps.

You'll get some nice MACRO functions and various locks ( aperture, exposure, RAW treatmeant, interactive histogram ).

That's next level

You must be a pro with this stuff! I'll keep these tips in mind the next time I upgrade my gear, thanks for the help!

Your phone is awesome. Just understand how to work around limitations ( inherent to any gear).

most important- understand light interaction (principles are the same as in a XVI painting.

Be aware of dynamic range ( human eye is much better), that's why exposure is a compromise on any pro camera too.

And get a tripod and stabilize yourself when take a shot . Especially in low lighting or fast moving things.

Upgrade your knowledge. The gear is fine . It's a mistake I made initially myself. Blamed the gear. Until I figured out it's not.

Haha, the old PEBCAK. Thanks again

PEBPAK in this scenario.

Dead giveaway you worked support. I preceded that, being, as Simon Travaglia puts it . a BOFH in ole' days for some time.

Because you crowdsource, here's a very specific highly recommended package for the iphone 13 Pro ( that has a very capable ultrawide and wide lens. Tele is meh . Shiftcam, a red dot award company.

The light , grip lenses, tripod are all awesome. If you can afford ( and don't own a dedicated lens swapping camera ) it's the next best thing.

Previous advices apply though !!!!

Question: I have a friend going to a conference in Taiwan in October. Can you recommend do's and don'ts?

Amazing off the beaten track fast access places? ( limited time)

The most important thing is to know the limitations of your gear .

And , do not assume that you can skip the basics.
